W9r1 at last!

12 days after starting week 9 and sustaining a calf injury, I ventured out this evening to try again now that the pain has completely gone and the snow melted.

I was a bit apprehensive about carrying on where I’d left off, but there was no need. When I hit the 20 mins with only a hint of a niggle in my right calf I knew I could do it. I took it a little slower than usual, but ran the full 30 minutes. Hopefully I can still reach my goal of graduating before Christmas 🏃🏻‍♂️🎄

Well done you.. keep it slow and steady and make sure you stretch and roll out that calf muscle really well:)

Thanks. I made sure I stretched them out before the warm up walk this time!

That's great, well done, so pleased it went well.

I took my calf out today for the first time in 12 days too, but was super cautious- probably too much. I can be more courageous on Sat. 😃

Thanks! Good luck for Saturday. I’ll be attempting run 2 the same day.

Well done. I had a calf injury over the summer and it took me a while to re-star the program. Re -started cautiously but have been ok although I do feel it still. I graduated last Sunday . I did find tightening tummy and backside muslcles while running helped me ...

Well done! I am so relieved to hear that you completed the run after such a gap. I’m just the same though its two weeks since I last attempted W9r1 (hamstring/piriformis) and I have the same Christmas target. I had thought I might need to step back a couple of weeks! Good luck with the next two- look forward to seeing you graduate. Hopefully I won’t be far behind you!

Thank you! I was relieved too. I did consider going back a week or two, but decided to go for it and see how I got on. Surprisingly nothing aches today! I slept much better too 😊
