Tough going

Went for a run yesterday evening. I am continuing to do 30 minute sessions. Found it a little hard going but kept running until the end. Not sure why, maybe not in the mood or lots of other things on my mind which needed to be done. I do want to keep to running 3 times a week to allow me time for myself so glad I got out there and did it. I guess some runs aren’t as easy as others for various reasons. Have a good week everybody 😀

Create some short, medium and long term targets, which might be based on pace, distance, duration, venue etc which will keep giving you little successes and rewards, much as C25K does. It helps to maintain interest, while you ingrain the habit into your life.

Thank you. I love the running. I just found it tough going last night for some reason. Time is very short with two active teenagers so have to run in between their activities or very early morning before work but I’m glad I’ve kept up the routine since September. Thanks for the tip about setting some other goals. I’ll have a think and write some down. Was just concentrating on running for 30 mins 3 times a week but might need a bit of variation 😀

It’s crazy how some runs feel good and enjoyable and some seem harder. I completed my second post graduation run this morning and didn’t feel as easy as my first run post graduation but just plodded through. I’m not bothered about distance or speed as long as I’m running for 30 mins two to three times a week. Hope your next run is better keep up the good work we’ve come so far 😀🎉👍🏃‍♀️

I think some runs feeling harder than others is just the way it is, not always due to an obvious reason.

Well done for keeping up the discipline of 3 runs a week. 😃

I think you're doing really well, you've stuck to your plan and they takes some doing, plus with a young family too. Maybe variate it next time, as previously advised on here, it could make a slight difference. You're doing more than me lovely, I work full time, visit my mum after work and then by the time I get home, it's tea and other events. Worse now it's dark earlier and not enough time in the morning as its dark then too and have work. So, tap yourself on the back as you are doing so, so well x 😊

Thanks for the encouragement. Yes, I work full time so have to go very early morning or in the evening after taking children to their activities. I am proud for keeping it up and fitting it in. I am enjoying it too. Just this run was hard for some reason. Not giving up though. Hopefully next run will be better 😀

I 100% agree that some variety is good. Targets are good too ... There's one race near us that my wife runs every year, maybe you could book a race that you can foresee doing annually... make yourself a new tradition! You can use that as a training focus and an annual test of your form!

The other thing I'd suggest is company. Do you have an opportunity to run with other people? I really enjoy the occasional runs I have with my wife and also my running club gives me variety and a social angle.

Happy running!

Thank you for your tips. I haven’t tried running with anyone else yet although some friends have asked. I didn’t have the confidence but maybe I should give it a try 😀
