Retro Runner Taking a Cue from Razouski....

Having been mightily impressed by my fellow retro runner yesterday at the Barbican, I went out this morning for my run. No particular place to go, no particular distance in mind, just a run.

And evidently I channelled my inner Razouski this morning, because I just did my first 5k under 30 minutes. Yup under 30 minutes... Yahoo.

My virtually new running socks became a casualty of the record, but this morning I got an early Christmas present, a new Personal Best, yes it was a downhill and flat run, but still, I'm chuffed to bits.

So thank you fellow retro runner, you're right, powered by cakes seems to work!

Woohoo, nice work - well done!

I thought of you lot and your retro soundtracks today as I ran with a fabulously retro playlist this morning and it was a corker. Some good ones for running were Iggy Pop's The Passenger, Run DMC & Aerosmith's Walk this Way, and Harder than you Think by Public Enemy. Oh and Ini Kamoze's Here Comes the Hotstepper. I was mostly about old skool rap this morning!

Ooh I like those.... need to think of another retro runner theme to make it make sense, Another Spotify list coming up....

I also had Green Day's Boulevard of Broken Dreams, which I'm not mad keen on but it is a very good running song.

What a fantastic run, well done for breaking the 30 minute barrier. The playlist has some corkers on it - I love the Peter Gabriel and will need to import that into my next playlist. Ditto to Petula Clark and Gladys Knight and the Pips. Sorry to hear about your sock, but at least you didn't get blisters.

I hope you found something tasty to celebrate your running victory. 🥂

Maybe it was the stone in your shoe that made you run the 5K faster, as you said, you weren't going to stop till you'd done that distance... ;-)

Aha new go-faster ingredient... you could be right. Very expensive in socks though....
