W5 R3 completed.....but odd thing happened??

Just completed this run and it felt amazing. During my warm down walk I started sneezing, and I mean sneezing a lot. Once the sneezing had stopped my lips started to swell up!! They still feel swollen and a bit numb - I’ve taken some antihistamine as a precaution but this seems very odd, anybody else suffered this???

Hey, that definitely sounds like an allergic reaction to something. How are you now?

Were you running anywhere different? What have you eaten today?

Any reaction where your lips start to swell is very dangerous so if you aren’t sure what has caused it carry antihistamines with you at all times just in case it happens again

Can u tell I’m a nurse? Yeah probably lol

Thanks for the advice. My doctor saw me as an emergency as my eyes started to swell too.

She said that some people who are prone to allergies can get this....maybe taking in more allergens as you are taking deeper breaths as you are running. I’ve got to take antihistamine for a few days and then in the mornings of run days.

Thankfully swelling is subsiding now. On a positive note; I didn’t feel tired at all after my 1st 20min run 👌👌

Glad you saw the doc and have a plan of action! Great news on the 20 mins!!

Something in the air? Maybe worth checking if anyone else has had issues in your area.. Severe reaction to something!

Oh no!! I hope you're not allergic to running!

Seriously it may just be to do with your increased breathing pulling in more allergens. I'm not an expert, just a theory.

Really well done for conquering W5R3 though, a real milestone :-)

Fantastic that you conquered W5R3. That’s a real milestone in the programme and you’ve done so well to get this far. I hope the antihistamines help for future runs. 👍🏽
