Ok, so I took everyone's advice and went out last night to the local park to attempt this run and all was going well until I started bumping into people I know!! I never thought about that fact as I run a boarding Cattery and while doing my warm up walk I started seeing familiar faces which totally sidetracked me!!
I managed a very long brisk 'warm up' walk with clients and their dogs/children but never managed the actual run!
I am now more determined to get back out there and do this so I'm planning tomorrow night! πππ»π

I've often though us trainee runners should have vests like the guide dog trainers do which ask you not to pet the dog. We could have 'in training, please do not disturb....' it's not very sociable though I admit
On the rare occasion that I meet anyone (knowing they will be absolutely flabbergasted to see me running) I say between very noisy breaths "sorry, can't stop...will never get going again!"
I have even run backwards on occasion when this happens, saying sweetly, "so sorry I cant stop Im following a training plan, will catch up soon", smile, face forwards and trot on!
I love running in basketball gear. Believe me, nobody wants to be associated with a guy in yellow LA Lakers kit, not even your colleagues. My son simply ran off the other way. Try it next time
