c25k and weight loss

Now I know that c25k is not designed for weight loss but as an aid to get you running continuously for 30 minutes and yes that's exactly what it does.

However

After stopping smoking back in March my weight went up somewhat, I was getting close to 14 stone (pot bellied little bugger) and then I decided I needed to change things and luckily found c25k.

So my journey began and fitness was improving along with my belly decreasing, September I hit a significant age and was called to Drs for health check and when weighed was 12stone 6lbs.

This morning when I weighed myself (naked -- just threw that in for the ladies lol) I was 11stone 9lbs

So along with sensible/healthy eating c25k does help with weight loss and coinsidently I ran my fastest 5k last night with an average pace of 6.48 per k

Onwards and upwards my running family/friends

Brilliant! That is a very healthy weight. Surely that can only be doing you good. Sounds like you have made huge strides on your fitness journey since stopping smoking (which is no mean feat in itself).

You are positively svelte! And "racing snake"? LOL! Love it.

Well done! Positive life changes there. I am definitely more toned after my now 12 weeks of running, and that makes me very happy. I think running makes you analyse all areas of your life - such as eating habits, drinking more water, getting enough sleep - it radiates out. So good.

I find this interesting, just completed w2r2 for the second Time, injuries, repeated wk1 blah blah. Now my weight hasn't altered, if anything it's gone up a frazzle. Put this down to muscle v fat.

However a couple of ladies at work today asked if I'd lost weight. Decidedly chuffed, my tire must be more toned and less wobbly lol.

In the early stages don't worry about the scales, use a tape measure and look in the mirror and you will start to see changes

Oh I am overjoyed but the big thing now is to let others know, to encourage them to continue/start their journey

My husband was complaining recently that he's put on a few pounds (he is effectively spending most of his evenings at his mum's now that he is working down in the south, so when he rolls home from work very late he gets the full-on southern Italian mamma treatment). When he is in Rome, I on the other hand cook for all of us but if he fails to inform me when or indeed even whether or not he is coming home at night, then he will get whatever he finds left in the fridge. My tough love kept him in better shape ;)

So I have been pestering him to start C25k, not for weight loss - IMO he doesn't need to lose any - but mainly just to be healthier as I feel his lifestyle of hugely stressful job followed by coming home and eating his own body weight in cheese is probably not striking the right balance. After weeks of eye-rolling he asked me if I'd buy him some running shoes and wanted to know about the app... so I think my evangelising is paying off. If I can get a man as stubborn as my husband on board, we will have the proof that NO-ONE is immune!
