Entering a race to motivate!

So I’m about to embark on week 4 and all going well I should be graduating in the first week in December! I’m loving the program and want to continue and complete a 10K as my main goal! I’m pondering entering a race but not sure when I may be at 10K standard? There’s a couple of winter runs in Feb/March and I’d love to achieve this! Think I could be there by then? Don’t wanna enter something and not give enough time to complete it? Maybe I should aim for summer races next year as 10K? Advice?

I'm on week 4 as well and also aiming for 10k eventually but I think next summer is more realistic, we need to gradually increase the distance and that's to big a jump in just a couple of months I think.

How about a 5km race in the January/February and a 10 later on in the year? Double the racing, less likely to push yourself too far to injury.

Plenty of 5ks about, I set myself up to do a 5k run for charity 2 weeks after I qualified.

Gave me something to aim for and I raised £500 for charity (veterans charity)

Think 5 K maybe ? Some great runs out there...some super Charity runs and Virtual charity runs too :)

I always feel that 10k is easier than 5k, always have. Or is it just me? 😃
