Yesterday was run day and I was in Christchurch, New Zealand for a meeting (traveled from Auckland not from further overseas). Some of you may know that Christchurch is flat and always has been - not just since the earthquakes! It is perfect running territory and I have yearned for an opportunity to run on the flat since I started this programme. My island where I live, is very volcanic and hilly and I have to head to the beach for flat running. But when it came to it in Christchurch I chickened out. I missed my beach where I do my usual spurt of activity and the urban streets of Christchurch didn't appeal. I left my running stuff in my overnight bag where it stayed till I got home.
And then when I landed back on my home strip, I surprised myself as I felt like a constrained child and had to get out to do my wk5r1 immediately. It was great and I loved that Laura does not have a London accent and every now and then a defining lilt from somewhere other than the South East creeps in to her commentary. I grew up in London and I still love the huge variation of accents across Britain. Feeling really good because i was dreading the first week of week 5..
