Swansea beach 5.9 k run

Well I finally run the Swansea, South Wales fun run. It was 5.9 k in total and I’m proud of my time 47.47. It was run on sandy beach, and it was very hard. Not only did you have the sand to contend with but also a very strong breeze, which was causing sand dunes and blowing in my face.

Yes I did it, would I do it again. Definitely, roll on next year I’d encourage anybody who can try it, you’ll love it

I’m the shortest one. Having a ball

Sounds wonderful! I imagine running on sand to be very difficult though!! Lovely photo. Congratulations on a great run!

Yes it was but well worth it for the experience. It was supposed to be compacted sand but because of very strong winds, all the soft sand was blown over the wet sand

You both look so happy, well done, pity about the wind, but not too many places next to the sea don't have winds, roll on next year. 😊 🏃

Exactly. Every beach normally has sea breeze, but unfortunately last night they were strong winds

Fantastic effort scobs. Well done 👏👌✌

👏👏👏👏 to you! How did doing a beach run compare to running on “land”?

To be honest, I found it softer underfoot, but not to soft, and easier on knees and shins etc. Timing was a bit slower but maybe that was because the wind was quite strong. I think personally running on the sand easier.

Interesting, we have a walking holiday each year in the 🇬🇧 (often in 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 in fact!) and I’m seriously thinking about booking our next one close to a big beach so we can run it.....never thought I’d be thinking like that until a fortnight ago!

If you do it , you won’t be sorry. It was definitely a lovely experience, more so that when it comes up again next year then my name will be down first 😊
