Well I lost my running mojo for a while.. should be on week 9 but I'm trying not to beat myself up about it! Managed 4K this morning in the 28 minutes which was 10 sec faster per km than wk8 run 1.. not sure that 5k will be very achievable in week 9 though π
How's everyone else getting on?

I just did W8R1 and really wanted to get to 4k so went a bit longer and did 29 mins. I cannot imagine that there is any possible way I can get to 5k by the end of next week, but reading through the forum I don't think many people do. Hopefully that comes later, I know I should concentrate on time and not distance but since I discovered the app with the robot voice telling me how far I had gone on W7 it!'s made me all competitive with myself and I was determined not to stop until she said 4km! Not sure that's a good thing.....perhaps I should turn her off.
π I think defo keep her on and go for it! I guess if we keep running we will get quicker and be able to hit that 5k mark in time. Thanks for replying! It's good to know it's not just me! π
I know you're right, I'm getting carried away and it's not necessarily a good thing. I need to channel my enthusiasm in the right direction. I blame my dear sister, she runs marathons up and down mountains and when I texted her to say I'd run for 25 mins and wasn't dead her first question was 'how far'?! So robot woman was called in, but I think I'm going to switch her off (and wait a while before I go running with my sister!)
On Week 7 and not sure I will do 5k in 30 minutes at the end - more like 45 minutes. I was feeling a bit frustrated too today to be honest. I am sure you will speed up after the end of the programme. It is a gradual but steady learning curve and there is still some work to do at the end of it. Sounds like you are already getting a bit faster and certainly not slowing down. If you are at 4k in 28 minutes that's 35 minutes for 5k so pretty good going. 30 minutes for 5k is a ball park figure to work towards but not all of us will achieve that. But the stamina to run 5k with relative ease is the main goal for me at the moment. Well done and you are nearly there.
Go on, tell us how old you are, helenwheels. I'm 64 but haven't graduated ... yet. I'm having a spot of trouble with running 25 min, despite taking all the advice on running slOwly. Perhaps I should be more honest and say I only have two speeds, very slow and walking!
Anyway I'm v pleased to be on the c25k programme, it's well put together. And I enjoy this site a lot. Good luck to all and happy (slow) running!
Yes, you lot need to forget about reaching 5k on the programme, if you insist on trying to push to that distance then there's a good chance you'll end up on the IC! then you'll be doing nothing! Heed Old Flosses advice well! And what's been said again here! You have been warned!π
Three months after graduation I have stopped thinking about distance and just aim for 30 minute runs. I suspect I may have done 5k in that time once. But I haven't done a sub 30 park run yet. Who cares? I am running regularly so that's what matters.
Yep I'm hearing you. I did same run tonight and it was slow and it kind of sucked cos i have stitches near my eye from surgery yesterday but what the hell it's 28 mins done and bring on next one π
