A little bit behind

Hey everybody. This past week was week 7 for me, started off with run 1 last Sunday great. Unfortunately this week also brought a family bereavement and as a result of it I’ve been quite weak, wobbly, too much going on to run so have slipped a few days behind. Not feeling that strong I went out for run 2 today and managed 20 mins instead of 25 .. desperately don’t want to lose my progress. I’ll get it back won’t I? Just try again in 2 days time maybe with day 3 of week 7 do you think? Hope everybody has had a great week. Happy running!

I am so sorry for your loss, treat your body with a lot of TLC at this difficult time. Stress and bereavement have a toll on our systems and if you push too much just now you might be prone to injury. By all means go out for the stress relief side but just do what your body wants. Also be aware that some runs might make you feel like it is helping do not be tempted to go over what you know you can do. For motivation keep coming back On Here and reading the posts, that should be enough to keep your running going through this difficult time. Take very good care of yourself. Rfcx.

So sorry for your loss Sadeskin ...be careful out there, if your body’s feeling weak, just do what feels ok...I sat with a friend yesterday who has cancer & when I got home I ran, to clear my head ...but I only ran a couple of Kms as I was feeling emotional...be kind to yourself xx

That's awful news. About a year ago I lost a friend to a very aggressive tumour diagnosed too late, and she also had two young children. It was devastating and seemed so unfair.

I hope that in your friend's case the treatment is effective - there seem to be many more stories of successful recovery these days.

So so sad...unfortunately hers is terminal so it’s palliative care from here on...

I’m sorry about your friend too, life is unfair...I cannot imagine how it must feel knowing that you have to leave your children xx

So sorry to hear you sad news ....please look after yourself first and foremost ... your body will be going through a lot at the moment .. don't push yourself but if you feel it would clear your head short runs if not able to do full program runs. Hugs sent your way x

First of all, I am so sorry for your loss. I think Realfoodieclub has hit the nail on the head. Run as your body dictates without however overdoing anything. You can always get back on track later but for now you need to be kind to yourself. It may well be that it helps relieve and strengthen you; it may well heighten your emotions too much and so take things as they come, and keep dropping in here. I doubt you have lost physical strength from slipping the odd day behind. It is more likely you are tired and emotionally worn.

Thinking of you xxx

You will definitely get back to it, Sadie, you are so committed. But all in good time. I am so sorry to hear of your loss - my condolences.

As others have said, do be kind to yourself. Run if you feel like it, don't push it if you don't. You won't lose your fitness overnight, so take this time to look after yourself. Grief is a process. Big hugs to you, lovely lady. xxx

You will get back and the runs will hopefully ease your heart and soul a little too :)

Just take it slowly and gently..rest up.. don't push.. do Run 2 again maybe and relax and enjoy and see how you feel :)

Stress can really hammer us.. and make things so tricky...

Be kind to yourself...listen to your body....it takes more than a few days to knock us runners down :)
