So excited to share another mini goal ticked off the list today - an outdoor run (only my 2nd ever) but also on my own. Having a running buddy and park runs are also goals of mine but reality is I will mostly be a solo runner and so I had to find the confidence to get out there. So I chose a nearby lake on a beautiful morning and went for it. The run itself wasn’t easy but I’m finding that the first 10 mins are the hardest and then things start to fall into place physically and mentally.

So a little bit of everything in my run today - I now feel better prepared now for wk6r3 on Saturday 🙂

One of the welcome shady spots on my route -

Welcome to the outside world. Isn’t that view better than the gym? I did some of my c25k on the treadmill because of the beast from the east, but haven’t been back since my graduation in May 2019. Running outside is great for the mind and soul. Enjoy the rest of c25k.

A beautiful spot...I am always a solo, outdoors runner and really love the tranquillity of it. It feels like it's me time, which is really handy coz I've got no-one prepared to come with me 😂

Well done for getting out there on your own, and yes...the 1st ten minutes are certainly there to test us 👍😊

That looks beautiful. I’m an early morning solo runner and my fave route is down by lakes near me. It feeds the mind I think. I was told about the “toxic 10” from friends on here as time to get the right oxygen levels into your muscles and basically getting into a rhythm. I would have to say that recently I don’t have that issue so much, not sure if it gets better as we get more skilled at warm up etc.

I’m doing my first ParkRun next week and worried about running in a big group. But have heard lots of good stuff about it so going to give it a go. Good luck for Saturday 👍🏻

Toxic ten sounds just right! At least I know now why that is. Look forward to hearing about your 1st park run. The run I did today is part of my local park run route so it doubled as a bit of training for when I’m ready for that.

If that was by my home you would certainly have a running buddy. Stunning.

It is nice. Lots of geese and some swans. It’s a good spot for fishing too.

Toxic 10.. so well documented!

Huge well done getting out there.. and what a location too !

I am a lone runner and that is my joy... running and then rambling about it on here... I think as you do more and more you will love it.

Then, when you feel like it.. you can find the company if you wish too:)

You're doing really well and the scenery certainly helps - I always find the first 10 mins are heavy on the legs🏃‍♀️my graduation's next Monday 5k on the road !! Then a Parkrun on the Saturday so a busy week ahead - bit scared but know the elation afterwards is worth it x

Well done for getting outdoors, so much more to enjoy!

As a solo runner I can't really imagine having a suitable running buddy... I think they would have to be deaf to avoid my awful singing... and maybe blinkered or even blind so as to miss my silliness! It's a great way to get quality time to yourself and it really does things to your confidence! 👍🏻😁
