Laura must be a machine to breathe in for 4 hits of the left foot on the ground then breathing out 4hits on the ground ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

There are a lot of views on how to breathe while running - Laura's counting breathes, or breathing in through the nose etc...I find the best option is to breathe in and out and not try to have any particular theory behind it especially as I don't appear to be able to breathe through my nose!! I would rather be conscious and breathing.

I find if I try to overthink things it all goes to pot.

I tried all the techniques too could not get them to work so decided to just carry on doing what Iโ€™ve been doing for the past 50 years, just so it and donโ€™t think about it ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿคฃ

I tried it once, after she'd said it. It didn't work. I didn't have enough oxygen to live. I went back to my huffing and puffing. That works just fine. I'm still here.

Ignore her! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Laura is fantastic and I loved her, but I couldn't do the breathing as she instructed, I just got completely out of breath and frustrated. Just make sure you're not running too fast and your breathing will soon settle into it's own natural rhythm. (But don't ignore the rest of Laura's advice as she is sound as a pound.

Laura is great. But what she says about breathing is daft. In, then out. Through the mouth is fine. As long as you are breathing (and you will soon know if you are not) then just run.

I agree with the breathing in, and then breathing out. Only doing one of the two is never going to work. Which orifice you use is optional in my opinion. Just keep doing it is my advice.

It never ceases to amaze me that HEALTH UNLOCKED DO NOT REMOVE THE BREATHING AND HEEL STRIKING "ADVICE" FROM THE PODCASTS DESPITE THIS POINT BEING MADE OVER AND OVER AGAIN YEAR IN YEAR OUT.

Subtle hint mode off. I don't think anyone at HU is listening. It is nonsense though.

I like Laura, very much, but her breathing technique isnโ€™t that of a normal human being...Iโ€™ve decided..sheโ€™s sat behind a mike, in a little studio somewhere...sheโ€™s not all red faced & sweaty wearing her lungs on her tshirt is she?? Donโ€™t you worry about your breathing gavmc ....just concentrate on running...& your breathing will sort itself out without you even realising....I promise ๐Ÿ˜‰

๐Ÿ˜. He he. Just take the first word and ignore the rest: 'Breathe...'. As long as I'm doing that, I'm happy!!

Glad it's not just me that can't do that. I can't think about running and breathing at the same time. That's way too hard! ๐Ÿ˜‚As soon as I did I couldn't catch my breath. I'm managing to do the running which is a miracle as I have always been rubbish at running and I've been able to breathe for 47 years so far so I'll focus on the running for now. I'm on week 3 by the way & amazed I could run for 3 minutes.

As everyone says just breathe. I was told by a physio, when in my 40's, that I walk all wrong. I'd been doing it that way for over 40 years and managed to get from A to B. It's really hard to change these things and as soon as you start to think about it the ability to do even basic things like breathe goes out the window. Keep running and breathing and you'll be fine.
