Question about feet....

Hey, So last night i completed Week 5 Run 3, legs felt ok (not brilliant, but no real issue) and lungs felt ok too, the only slight thing that bothered me on the 20 minute run was a weird stretched feeling across the bottom of my feet, not painful to the point i had to stop, but noticable enough that i was happy when i did stop.

The minute i started walking, it felt fine. I dont think its full blown Plantar, but wonder if you can suffer from varying degrees of it? Also, does anyone know how good the insoles you can buy are for counteracting against this?

Your advise, as always, is appreciated.

Hi Scott,

I developed this as I progressed thru C25k and also assumed it was the beginnings of Plantar F. I found that stretching my feet by putting them across the knee and pulling the toes towards me before putting on/immediately after taking off my trainers really helped. By the time I finished the programme my feet were fine, though I still always do the stretching just in case.

Hope this helps!

Thank you - will definately give this a try? Do you only do this before/after a run, or periodically?

When I had the problem I did it several times a day, and always before/after running. Now just the latter. Also, I googled exercises specifically for PF, and found lots. The stretching still worked best for me though.

Best of luck!

Are you wearing running shoes fitted after a gait analysis?

in reply toIannodaTruffe

Yes - had the gait analysis, and trainers seem great, its only occured on my last run, W5R3, so was hoping it was just getting used to more time/distance running.

Great, that should be okay.

Follow the advice of those who have experienced the same issue.

Good luck.

Are you stretching your feet after a run? I’ve got plantar and find that a good stretch has sorted it out. Thought I’d need insoles but am actually managing without.

In a word, No. But im going to start now!! Might hold off on insoles then, and have a good stretch 2/3 times a day then. Thank you

Yes, stretch the toes gently by pulling them back. I also walk on tiptoes for 100 steps around the house which helps feet & calves..

Will certainly try it thank you
