I have just done wk6r1 and was surprised that it seemed to be less running than wk5r3, which was 20 minutes continuous, now seem to be back to run walk run walk routine

anyone understand the thinking behind that?

Noticed that myself Angela, but its all part of the program, and will be related to development and consolidation ... building up to a run that really stretches you ... W5R3, and then runs that help consolidate that into your strength and stamina, W6R1/2 leading up to W6R3 which is another single run ....I'm looking forward to starting this ... W6R1 this evening ....

You are doing well, I questioned the thinking behind the program, but, forget the why's and wherefore's, and just crack on with the program, it evidently works ... check out the graduation list ....

Absolutely agree, I think I have only got this far by ceding all responsibility to the app. It is not me thinking shall I stop now but the accumulated weight of everyone on here saying it works . As i say I was just wondering :-)

Yes. The truth is W6 is one of the hardest weeks. You will increase your run time from 20mins (W5R3) to 25mins (W6R3) in just one week, or three runs. The increment on other weeks has always been less than this and will be in the remaining weeks - 25 -28 -20. Simply getting you to run 25mins three times this week would be a step too far. The way to build your cardio and stamina is to go back to what you have been doing up-till-now - and that is by intervals. You will be on your feet and moving longer this week than last week. And the intervals will allow you to increase your overall run time by adding in breaks.

If you compare weeks side by side the W6 is the same format as W5, only longer runs. The same is true of W1 and W2, also W3 and W4. The last 3 weeks are just increases of the long run.
