Does anybody run everyday????
Just wondering: Does anybody run everyday???? - Couch to 5K
Just wondering
No. I graduated in June. I ran every second day, sometimes I took a couple of days to rest if I was sore. Rest days are really important, so as to allow you to recover. Otherwise if you run every day you may get an injury. Try swimming or a good walk on your rest days if you want to exercise further.
I run every second day too but sometimes I feel like I could go everyday and do one of the previous runs...you're right though I don't want to injure myself...thanks for your advice...I'll do a swim instead, something nice and calming on the muscles!!!
Take the rest days there is no rush to get through the programme this has been re-iterated numerous times in the last two weeks if you don't follow the programme a period on the IC can follow they are there for a reason once you have been running for a considerable length of time (couple of years for example) by all means run every day but bear in mind even the experienced athletes have a break now and again.
If you are on the programme, defiitely not. Probably not advisable after graduation until you have built up a really good base and your tendons, joints etc have strengthened up. But plenty of people who have been running for a year or two run daily, yes.
Every other unless I have work then I will have rest days on work days and then go gym and run on days off 👍
Every other day, or even take two days off, if necessary. I don't want to cause an injury.
No way, you must be kidding, every day would finish me off. I do every other day but sometimes slip in a second rest day, so it's 3 runs a week
Beginners never should. The rest days are important. I have seen various statements about how long you should have been running before you can skip a rest day from 6 months to 2 years so think I will leave it at least a year.
No..if you are on this programme...rest days are essential..as Rignold says...you need to be much further on in your running journey...there is plenty of other stuff to do on rest days🙂
Nooooo, I did it once feeling it was a show of commitment and strength, and now I realise it was neither. So until I am a Viking like Rignold says, it's every other day for me
Nope. Was thinking about it because a friend does but then he got a stress fracture. I don't always play safe - but when it comes to the IC.....
No I don't.
Running creates micro tears in your muscles which repair and strengthen on your rest days not while you are running. Not advisable for new runners.
Noooooooo! I suffer badly from shin splints because of an old foot injury so can tell you first hand the difference a day's rest makes. Early on in the programme, although I only ran on alternate days, I mixed it up with a huge amount of walking. It was too much for my decrepit legs and body and I ended up on the IC for 2½ weeks. For most, walking on rest days will be fine - but I was walking silly distances and with my existing issues I just shouldn't have done it. Your body really needs those rest days to recover - and you can still do other exercise. I swim and do spinning classes on rest days - low impact and, I'm convinced, actually make me a better runner.
Every 2nd or 3rd day for me.
If you are not professional runner than you should do 1 day reat between runs. I know a lady, a professional, who has rest running days which means 5-10k for her in a slow pace which probably is faster than my fastest pace But she is a world champion in her category.
So take at least 1 day break between runs
No, I always take at least 1 rest day between after reading all the advice from the experienced runners on here. I am tempted as feel so good afterwards but go for a nice walk instead.
