Well, 2 weeks since I graduated and I think I've gone mad. Just signed up for a 10k at the end of November.

Well, nobody says you can't do it but I certainly needed more time to get to 10K in one piece with lungs in one place.

Distance needs training. Some guys need more some need less but all need some. I needed more because I knew what could happen if good ol' ligaments get stretched like chewing gum. They can snap.

How far have you gone with your training in terms of comfortably run distance?

Including my warm up and warm down this mornings run was 9k.

The funny thing is my lungs and breathing are totally fine. Just like you say it's getting the miles into the legs.

Since graduating I'm a bit all over the place. Been trying some faster runs and then a few longer ones to see how that works.

Also, just switched to the roads/pavements as my normal routes are too muddy now - it hurts more.

I love the fact that 'reluctantrunner' is not so reluctant after all... well done you for going for a target. Just take your training plan nice and easy. Really looking forward to hearing how you get on.

Hold your horses, there is going to be no name changing!! And for signing up for half and full marathons, do t get carried away. I have had to change my mind to a let's see what happens type of mindset.

I did start of thinking "I don't like running". Now I do. I got to 5k and thought, what's next. Never say never is my new motto. Will keep you posted. One thing I am sure of is now the bridleways are too muddy the roads are good but boy do my legs/feet hurt more.

Wow. That is dedication for you 🙌🏻

I think that this is just about possible if you are really disciplined. Others' know much more about training than I do but with the 10% guideline you have time to get to 10k in time for the race. Ju-Ju has a training plan that might help. Just remember that as you go further you need to go slower. Good luck!

How about 'lessreluctantthanbeforerunner' :)
