Hi all,

I'm new to this just about to do w5r3 bit concerned as it's 20min straight run. Any advice would be very much welcomed.

Just remember it is just another run... each one has prepared you for the next... take it slowly and steadily and do not let you mind tell your legs they cannot run :)

You will do this... you just have to believe it:)

Slow and steady. Slow and steady. Slow and steady. Slow and steady. Did I mention that you need to go slow and steady?

I found this to be the most valuable piece of advice ever given to me and I have to credit OLDFLOSS with it ๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿ˜˜ Plus, try to enjoy the run, listen to some of your favourite tunes and keep telling yourself "I can run so I will run" and you'll be amazed at that you'll achieve.

Let us know how you get on ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š

I am thinking very seriously of adding slow and steady to my name.. because it does work..in most things... not just running :)

Celebrate the fact that you have come so far in the programme, and just make sure you take it really easily. Also be assured that the programme does work and you are certainly ready for the run.

Enjoy!

Thank you all for kind advice. Gone on a fitness spree at moment. Given up smoking 6 weeks ago and am terrified of putting on weight. So far so good and never thought I would have started doing this.

I will let you know how I get on

Assuming that you are doing a brisk walk, as instructed, then you have just moved for 21 minutes between warm up and cool down...........so what is the problem with 20 minutes?

Your question is one of the commonest asked on this forum..........all the other graduates and runners beyond W5 completed it. What's so special about you?

Believe in yourself.

Bit sharp in responce but guess your right! Nothing special about at me at all. Just trying to figure this out.

Iโ€™m scared of that run too! You arenโ€™t alone lol mine is on Thursday this week and I think the only thing that has me thinking I can do it is the fact that this program has worked for thousands of people so it must be right that Iโ€™m ready for it. Weโ€™ve come this far we canโ€™t let uncertainty stop us now!

I am sorry if you feel I was "sharp", I was just trying to point out that most people feel the same way as you and then go on to complete the run..........because they believed they could.

Hi! I did this one the other day and really was not convinced I could it! But I did! I struggled with week 5 run 2 so thought there was no way I would manage run 3! But I did! To look at me you wouldn't think I could walk for 20 mins let alone run it! But I did! I definitely didn't break any records, took it nice and slow, and focused on my audio book instead of my legs! Honestly if I can do it, you can too!! Good luck and would love to hear how you found it WHEN you've done it!

this run had me freaked out and planning an escape route! Seriously it is the gremlins that everyone talks about, it's in your head , not your legs. I made sure that everything was in place for a good run, ear phones positioned, laces , motivating running tracks etc and when the end was nigh and the gremlins gathered, the mantras from this site, slow and steady , etc kept me moving.

Hi dan how did the w5r3 go ?

All these posts absolutely on the spot! Really really slow to start so you can sustain the 20 minutes. As your legs & cardiovascular fitness have improved in programme so far, you are tempted to push the pace. Don't! It's also a mind thing now - 20 minutes straight seems a huge jump from 2x8 but it isn't really. Good luck ๐Ÿ˜‰
