Completed W5R2 today. Felt so chuffed and happy that I am getting better at running and the length of times. Then I had a sneak peak at W5R3 - I wish I hadn’t!!! 20min off running? Seems a big gap from W5R2!! Any advise anyone?
W5R3 - seriously!!!???: Completed W5R2 today... - Couch to 5K
W5R3 - seriously!!!???
Just take it slowly and just listen to some music. Then it’s only 5 or 6 tracks but above all you can do it- it’s what you have been working up to and you’ll feel amazing afterwards!!!
Take it slowly (especially in this heat).
You are ready for it (even though you might not think so) and you will get the biggest buzz from this run.
Don’t go fast and fade. Go slow and speed up at the end if you have energy to spare - you really want to reach the end if you can.
Probably the one question that everyone asks as they go through the programme. Have a look at some of the Week 5 posts under "Topics" on the RHS. W5R3 is a watershed, but it's easier than we think it will be. In duration terms it's shorter than the preceding run. It's W6 that tends to catch people out.
Go slow, don't fret, you'll do it....
Thank you. I am determined so I need to believe in the program.
It's one of the key moments when you need to be mentally tough. Your legs know what to do. It's the little men who pull the levers in your head that will need fighting off.
Just relax and take it gently. And amaze yourself
You’ve done the stuff that makes it possible Peet! You can do it. Just take it slow. So many people absolutely love the next run! A big part of that is not being sure, but proving to yourself that you can. I was definetly one of them. What a high! Don’t fret too much! You’re with your coach and he/she will be guiding you all the way! We will also be cheering you on in our virtual world. 😁😁❤️
I'm so excited for W5R3, I'm curious how I'll cope without the intervals. I'd w5r1 this morning. We can totally do it! You've got this far, have faith..... Says she who hasn't done it 😂
Thank you. Let’s see what Friday brings x
I'll look out for your post. 😀 I'm doing the 20 mins on Sunday. I'm away visiting the in-laws so will be uncharted territory for me too. I'm going to scope out the area on Saturday.
Good luck. You got this!
Hoping to do it tomorrow. Will post again. X
My alarm is set for 5am for w5r2. Got to be on the road for 7.30. have fun I'm really looking forward to your ecstatic braggy post 😉
Hehe....bragging???!!! I’m already debating about running tomorrow. I’m out for my daughters bday tomorrow at a farm with 7 kids and mummy’s. Wondering by the time if I’m gona fancy that run-it’s so hot and could be fairly draining. However I don’t know if I might want to destress from all the screaming, hyped up children!? Hehe
How did it go?
Loved it. I'm so ready for a no interval run. It was my first run without a plan too. Just went were I I went. Have you been out for yours?
Well done you!!! You can sooooo do it!!! I just returned from my run! Not only did I manage 20 min but continued on for another 5 min off actually non stop running!!! OMG I can’t believe that. I swear my legs just knew what to do. I just carried on. Wow.
What they said! Seriously, it is the turning point. Once you’ve done it, you will feel a) on top of the world and b) that you will be able to take on 25, 30, 40 the sky is the limit. Believe in yourself, believe in the plan. It works. I’m living proof. I was terrified of this run, never thought I could do it. But it will be easier than you think. You’ve done the training, you are ready. Go smash it! 🏃♂️🏆😊
You can do it!! Slow and steady.... something good to listen to.... and go slow! The long runs are amazing!
Everyone who has done this felt exactly the same - but guess what - we’ve done it and so will you. The sense of achievement is overwhelming and this only increases as you progress further with the program. Good luck and let us know how it feels once you have done it 😀
You will be fine...you’ve been building up to this one...you are ready and you will smash it!
I have done the programme a few times over the past six years. The first time I had to do the week 5 third run I just thought no way ! I did it and it’s actually easier than I thought. After a big gap I started again at the beginning and am again facing the big week 5 run 3 tomorrow night !
Sorry to sound clichéd, but the only person stopping you is you. I know how you feel, I'm doing w4r1 tomorrow and crapping my pants. I'm about to make a playlist on Spotify to keep me going and keep pushing and swearing at Sarah Millican.
Your spot on. I think just need to believe more in myself!! Good luck to you as well. X
That’s my next run too. Good luck. Let us know how it feels...
My 2 pence, break it down in 5 mins chunks and focus on completing each 5 mins run, that way you are only looking at the 5 min marker and not a 20 min marker.
Obviously go slow and steady as many have advised here and if you feel you have a bit left in the tank at the end give it all to the last 1 or 2 mins.
The feeling once you have completed this run is only comparable to the feeling you will get once you graduate.
Enjoy your run and all the best! You can do it.
My update.....Not only did I manage 20 min but continued on for another 5 min off actually non stop running!!! OMG I can’t believe that. I swear my legs just knew what to do. I just carried on. I’m in complete utter shock. Right in the beginning when jo said that’s 5min done it felt like I had done 10min already - I was ready to *^%#?$! But from there onwards my legs just carried me some how!!!
It’s so right in what people have posted believe in yourself and you can and will do it. If I can so can you. X
