Hi all, I've read some posts over the last week or so and thought I'd get into this properly. I've just completed week 2, run 3! Really not sure how I'll manage to run for 3 minutes. My hubby runs and came out with me this morning and said my running pace was under 30min/5k. I've been trying really hard to slow down, but I walk quite fast normally so I feel that speeds my run up iyswim. How can I get myself to slow down?

Thanks

I found concentrating on heel first and the way I run, may not help but worked for me. 👍

What works for me - really short steps, really don't push off with much effort - you shouldn't be "bouncing", but you just need a running "motion". Interesting that you walk so fast!

I'm always rushing around and tend to really stride out when walking to work. Probably need to bring my stride back in. 😁

Welcome aboard.

There is no defined pace for this programme, so just find a pace you can sustain for each run, which will be defined by your ability to breathe, probably. If you can happily run at 6:00min/k then there is no inherent problem in that. Some people are naturally faster.

As far as stride is concerned, your footstrike should be under your body, not out in front. So shortening your stride would slow you down if you are at present overstriding.

As long as you are comfortable, breathing steadily and not struggling in anyway... keep that pace:)

You may find you slow down a tad as the runs get longer.. and that is just fine :) Well done:)

Hi

I'm due to run tomorrow, bit nervous to be honest! Glad to hear that I'm not on my own with the fast walk. Good luck for your run xx
