How to measure my distance??

Pelican here. I'm on Wk 8 and all is going well. I'd like to see how far I run during my runs. Can phones do that? Is there an app? I'm not too hot on the techie aspect...

I love runkeeper. It's a free app in the App Store.

Hi there. I use a built in app on my phone called (Samsung Health).

I'm no expert or anything but I'm quite impressed with it's features and have been hooked on it since I started using it just over a week ago and to think it was always on my phone but i never paid it any attention.

Well done on your runs aswell.

Strava and Runkeeper are both said to be great, and I think they are the benchmark. I used the free Nike+ app for a while too, which apparently has less functionality but a nice design and no ads.

Mapmyrun, the free version does everything you will need at the moment

Thanks very much everyone! I went into Play store (never been in before, what an Aladdin's cave, I'll be exploring later!) and the first one I found was Map my Run, so I've loaded that. It's come up straight away with my location, so that's cool! My next run will be either tomorrow or Friday. Can't wait to try it out! Thanks again 😀

Have fun with it and enjoy your run, it takes a little while to get used to mechanical voice lady....

I go with Endomondo, it's a free download, lots of stuff in there, distance and mapping being top of the list.

Endomondo is what I use

in reply to GingerBohemian

Is it good? Although I've got Mapmyrun now, and that seems good enough...

I like Endomondo as it has a whole load of different types of exercise on there. It was recently bought out by Under Armour. The free version has more than enough.

The other app I use is MyFitnessPal which works really well with Endomondo as it is also owned by UA. And both of them work fantastic with the Apple Watch

I was going to ask the same question! Will the suggested apps work alongside Sarah Millican telling me when to walk or "jog"?

in reply to Lelecon

Yes I've found other apps work well - they go quiet when the voice comes in!!

Thanks, will give it a try tomorrow morning.
