Hi, I'm in the middle of week 3 and doing great, but can help seeing that there is quite a jump up in running time for week 4! I'm a bit daunted by it so would appreciate any tips????

Only look at the run you are doing, if looking ahead causes you anxiety.

You can only fail this plan by staying on the sofa.

If you don't complete a run then you repeat it, getting stronger each time, until you complete it, then you move on. There is nothing to fear. It is a training plan, not the Spanish Inquisition.

Don't doubt yourself. Trust the plan to prepare you for the next run, as it has done up to now.

Think positive.

Thanks for the advice. You're right, it isn't the inquisition, so I'll take it one step at a time.

I just did wk 4 run 1. And I'm alive!!! The 5 minute blocks were terrifying (I didn't find the 3 minute blocks at all easy!), but I just went really, really slow. Had a hint of energy left in the last minute of my last run, so picked up the pace a tiny bit... Looked like a running tomato, but I survived. If I can, you can! Go for it!!

Thank so for the reply. Glad you got through it. Sounds like pacing yourself is the key. Thanks

Slow and steady, and then slow down again :)

Daunted is good- it will motivate you to warm up properly, breath and adopt a slow pace - I was daunted too (last week was my wk4) all was tough and challenging but looking - not as hideous as I thought it woild be. Now just need to take my own advice for wk5 r1 todaaaaaay ahhhh!!!

It is cumulative stamina you are building. Trust me, it's not a big jump. Why?

Your body is more efficient on longer runs. Don't go flying out the traps, but ease into a nice sustainable pace and rhythm, try not to think about the time and you will surprise yourself.

Sound advice there... we know it works:)

One thing that worked for me is to believe that you can and will do it before each run. Positive thinking really works!

Just did W4R1 today and, like you, I was daunted by it. I went pretty much as slow as humanly possible, and I did it! It's definitely a jump, but you'll feel great once you realise week 4 isn't about training your legs, it's about training your brain!

I was exactly the same!! But have just completed week 4 run 3!! I found the first 3 min run ok the 5 min run suprised me at how i didnt struggle too much, next 3 min run ok and last 5 mins hard but by then you know if you can just get to the end you have done it so it spurs you on!!! Good luck you will smash it xxx

Thanks for that, I feel good to go now. It's great to hear how others felt.

Stop worrying :)

The runs follow on... and if you are taking it steady and slow, you are going to be just fine:)

As IannodaTruffe says.. trust the plan and have faith in yourself... do not think that any one run is harder than the other.. whatever you read in some posts of whatever the sneaky mind gremlins tell you... :)

Positivity rules here:)

I felt exactly the same , I found week 3 quite ok and then weekk for hit ! My first route awful as it was a bit uphill in places and I walked the final 90 secs next twice I kept to the flat and went very slow !

So in a nutshell stay slow on the flat and you ll surprise yourself :)
