Been having on and off problems with my left knee - not while running or walking, but stairs and after sitting in one position + swelling behind the knee (which feels like fluid). Been getting worse since going back to school last week, so went to he docs this morning. Undergoing some investigation - she thinks it's probably osteoarthritis (I have this in my neck already) and a Baker's Cyst, but had x-ray and awaiting ultrasound to check. I asked whether I could continue running while waiting, but she said no, just in case it is something else......
...so no running until results are back....☹

I've been told I can do knee exercises (and I have physio which I do for my upper body anyway). I think she said no running just in case it is something else, as funnily enough one of the best exercises for arthritis is running!!
I will! X-rays were done this afternoon and should be back at the GP in 5 working days. Have to wait for an appointment for the Ultrasound, but she didn't think it would take too long....
Sorry to hear about the knee problem, hope it improves soon, I get niggles with the knee's, running and excercises have helped and have toned up the legs, I also take Glucosamine which seems to have good results for me..😊
I've had niggles before - but they always sort themselves out. It's the fluid lump and the fact that it's getting worse which made me think I needed to get it checked out this time!! I've heard about Glucosamine before - I think that may be something I chat to my doc about when the results are back!
Aw, poo :(I hope you get an answer soon. It's frustrating being on the IC, but it is best to wait until you know what is going on rather than risk an even longer period on the IC. Make the most of the period by reading running books, watching running films, surfing the web for your next running gear and (of course) keeping up with the forum.
I need to get some new running shoes (and possibly some trail shoes), so I can definitely spend some time browsing the web and admiring things I might buy!! And I will of course be on here supporting everyone else with their running!
At the moment getting worse instead of better! Waiting on x-ray results and date for ultrasound. Until they have confirmed what is wrong, they can't advise me!!
