Disappointing run 1 week 4 :((

Instead of feeling elated that I got through sort of I feel very flat as it did nt go nearly as well as I wanted :( Firstly I was too hot in my long sleeve running top ( even though it was pouring ) the rain did nt matter as it was a dry fit top so not uncomfy. It started really well and half way through I felt quite good so decided to change my route , this was the problem as it had lots of slight inclines which made it feel like Everest :( On the last 5 min run I walked the last 90 seconds as I was so tired and not from the hilly bits. Plus my app stuck twice so I think in parts I ended up doing slightly more. Should I repeat this run or go to run 2 and change my route to a flatter one plus wear a short sleeve top ? Any suggestions appreciated!!!

There is no need to repeat. There were a few things going against you there. But it was still good training. You will have some amazing runs, some OK runs and some god awful runs. Everyone experiences crappy runs every now and then.

Next time pick a more comfortable flat route and you will be fine.

I wouldn't bother repeating, next time go back to your flatter route and you should be fine. I think everyone gets runs that just don't go very well - I've found it's usually just a blip. (I'm on week 8). I avoid any sort of incline like the plague, think flat is best :-) I'm sure you'll be fine for run 2.

Thank you very much for the replies and I will take the advice on board and find a flatter route , I run Tuesday Friday Sunday so two days off to recover and recharge !!!!

Don't be disappointed ... you did it! Like the others have said, it would have been good training. Your next run will be better as you will pick a flatter route, but don't let that feeling of disappointment spoil anything for you as it sounds as though you did really well

Thank you Sadeskin, yes definitely a flatter route even if I have to run up and down the same way a couple of times !!

Hee hee I did that a few times yesterday to avoid waiting to cross the road and losing time! New route needed for me now too. Good luck xx
