Week 4 run 1

Was totally convinced i couldn't do this when i saw the jump up in time...but i just did!

I'm 9 weeks post hip replacment. 5 years ago i completely stopped running with severe hip pain that made me fall over. 3 years ago had right hip done. Tried running....no go. So now with left hip done I'm over the moon to have just run for 16 minutes. Trying not to compare my old times or performance and just focus on the joy of actually being able to jog!

That is absolutely fabulous. (I hope you've checked with your consultant or physio that you are ok to run so soon after your op.) Well done, and happy running. :-)

I checked with my body-:) My consultant this time was pro running, the other one gave me a list of things to never do, including never running even for a bus....I decided the second one was more my kind of person.

Welcome back.

Wise to accept that you may not match your old times and pace, but the important thing is to get moving again.

Good luck.

thanks. I can get a bit frustrated (I used to be pretty good) but mainly overjoyed, can't wait to do enough to get my runner's high. Hanging onto the overjoyed...I actually remember to enjoy the process most of the timetoo - although week one was struggle . Amazing that I can even walk really, if I had been in another country or time in history, no way.

Modern medical science is amazing and as you say, those of us who can benefit from it are truly lucky.

Keep running, keep smiling.
