Wk 1 run 3

Week 1 completed! BUT although I didn't exactly struggle it was hard. I've put this down to just finishing a 4 day shift as the previous 2 runs were completed whilst I was on holiday. So I think I'm going to start week 1 again; run on Sat, then do 1 more week 1 after my next 4 day shift before ramping it up to try ( sorry not try DO) my 1st week 2. What do you think?

There are two schools of thought on this. Some will say, if you have completed a run, you should move on to the next one. Only repeat if you don't complete.

Others say repeat until you feel ready to move on. I did the latter, being older and not very fit. I felt it helped me to build confidence in my abilities.

However, the plan seems to work, miraculously you might say, so I probably didn't need to do that.

So, whichever way you do it is ok. As long as you keep on, take your rest days and enjoy it.

Don't ramp anything up... just, if you have completed all of Week 1 runs, move onto Week 2.

Many folk find the first few weeks difficult... it is something new... so perfectly normal:)

Keep it slow and keep it steady and as the weeks progress, you will find you get stronger.. keep adding your strength and your stamina exercise in too, on rest days...Just move on:)

Sounds familiar. I finished week 1 last week and posted a similar message that I would revisit week 1 this week. Thanks to some friendly encouragement on here I decided to start week 2.

I decided to try 1 day of week 2 and if I really could not hack it then I would go back. I was pleasantly surprised that it was not as bad as I expected. Whilst I am struggling due to a knee problem I have found that my stamina is up to it despite a total lack of exercise for years and so it is just a bit of a mental challenge.

In the end it's full steam ahead on week 2. Good luck whichever way you go.

If you managed week 1you are ready to move on. Don't start waiting for it to be easy. That's not the point. Every week is a new challenge and a new achievement. Go for week 2. Find it tough. Do it anyway. Bask in the warm glow of knowing you stretched yourself and you achieved success.

I would try week 2 and see how it goes...you might be surprised. I feel trepidation with every new week's challenges...but manage! It IS hard - but that's to be expected, and you did manage it, don't forget that. Be proud of yourself!
