Wk 1 run 3

Just done run 3 so week 1 done. I have decided to do a different run for each run in a week so I cannot compare how I have done. Living near the top of a hill, some bits will be uphill ( hard) others downhill ( easier) virtually none level. The weather is brilliant so highly motivating, long may it last.

Week 2 here I come!

Thank you everyone for all the encouragement, it really does help.

Week 1 in the bag!!! Yey! Happy running! Love the idea of having different routes for each run of the week! I bet it keeps it real fresh!

Hills increasingly become your friend the longer you run, as there are exciting ways to train on them … like hill sprints!

You l’ve got that to look forward to! Happy hill running, you lucky hill dweller!

Flat running is overrated. 😆

I started running nearly five years ago. I live in a hilly area too. The flattest route I could find for starting Couch to 5K on had 30m of climb over about 1.5km.

The final 200m or so of the out-and-back route I was using was a very slight rise. Back then it was a real slog to do that last short stretch at the end of the run.

Every year on the anniversary of my first ever C25K run I do the Week 1 Run 1 again, to remind me of how far I've come. That rise feels like nothing nowadays.

good job done - I’m doing Slope of Hope and my Hill that Kills on Sunday. It’s a good discipline if you can manage it fitness wise.

Onwards and upwards and downwards to W2

I like it... shaking it up and not putting pressure on yourself.

Those hills, they do, make us stronger, they are our friends... my slog of a hill, which at the beginning I used to run up, so, so slowly, has become over the, years my favourite warm up start to any run,

Like you, I am surrounded by hilly bits and at 75 ( nearly), and I have real trouble , when running on flat surfaces!

As more seasoned runners, we just take it gently and enjoy... we are totally awesome!

Just take it slow and steady and really enjoy x

Some hilly links to make you smile?

Hills? That's stamina building that is, I live in east anglia so avoiding any 'real' hills is easy, the first week is pants, I realised how unfit I was, it was a wake up call to me. Have just graduated for the second time, so will will wait for you at the finish line, I will be there and following your journey so keep up the good work and enjoy the improvements as they come, it is the best bit!
