Well that was an interesting experience! I enjoyed the run- kind of... it took some mental effort to focus on anything but how I was feeling and the fact I was moving my legs continually for 5 long minutes but as my body was ok clearly I need to strengthen my mind - any advice welcome?
Somehow I managed to hit pause on my phone with my thumb as i ran the 2nd run tonight - no idea how as had iTunes open! So by the time i re-hit play I actually ended up running 6 minutes not 5 π.
During the last run I felt ok ( it's always the middle run that tests me mentally?!) until the lovely Jo Whileytold me I was half way through and only 2 5 minutes to go - sometimes Id prefer she wouldn't do that as get a false sense of comfort that it's nearly complete (anyone else feel like that?) then beat myself up as I'm supposed to be enjoying it not enduring it - when I felt my lace was undone on my trainer.... dilemma! Do I stop fix it and carry on or ignore it... i chose the latter and even ended up doing my brisk walk in the same fashion.... that's committment! ππ.

We talk a lot about gremlins on here and I reckon there's a special techy type of gremlin, I can't tell you how many blinking runs have been messed up by the technology... it drives me crazy but I love the music, and desperately need the time checks, so other than running around a clock tower I just have to suck it up!
But you took on the tech problem, the laces problem and the Time difference between you and your coach and got to the end. That's commitment.
Well done on the run! The mind strengthening issue is really interesting, it almost sounds like you need something really intense to focus your mind on. I was gonna point you at the thread the other day about what people think about when running but I see you already contributed! I take it music doesn't cut it? Podcasts? Maybe do a language course? (I'm mostly joking there.) Or have you tried the other direction, trying to think of nothing? At the end of yoga class we are supposed to lie for 5 minutes doing nothing, and thoughts that come into our minds, we are aiming to just let them drift through. I know for a fact people are thinking about dinner at that point, so it doesn't work so well...
I think training your mind is just really difficult!
Well done to you lovely. I've experience a few tech issues too. The first issue was I hadn't downloaded Wk 7 run 1, haha, that stopped me in my tracks when I left the house π
I've just kept going when anything has stopped or gone cranky. Or if I've had to catch up and missed a minute or two, I've kept going just after the end time, so it's evened out then. Don't worry about it too much though. Hopefully, there's only going to be a minute or two missed.
Well done anyway and I look forward to your future runs π
I used to suffer with the Tecchie Gremlin when I used the app, but found I was much better using the podcasts and the Lovely Laura.
I am also very well acquainted with the Shoelace Gremlin. You don't want him/her striking too often, and running with your laces undone can be quite risky. I kicked my Gremlin into touch by tying a double bow and then tucking one of the loops under the crisscross part of the lace. I haven't had a problem since. Stopping to do laces only takes a few seconds but interrupts the flow so it's worth securing them well at the outset.
Good luck for teaching those gremlins a thing or two. π
