You can do it! I've just done the second run of week 3 this morning. You will amaze yourself, believe me! Just take is really slowly. As Laura says, it's a light jog - don't go mental :-). Hang in there - I'm only just slightly ahead of you so will keep you posted on how I get on too! (Am 54, never run anywhere, even for a bus, ever in my life!).
That face looks perfectly normal and ready for the challenges ahead. Nice shade of pink you're rocking! Week 3 is perfectly doable, you've been working towards it and I am now wondering about your graduation pic!!!!!
Oh and this post, just so you know is undoubtedly inspiring others. It's a lovely thing, you get inspired, you then inspire the next set of newbies.
I am also starting week 3 on Tuesday, and like you are very dubious about running for 3 minutes! But i shall give it a go as i felt the same moving from week 1 to week 2 and was very suprised that it wasnt as bad as i thought. Saying that 3 minutes seems a long time! Good luck for Tuesday, enjoy the days rest! Lol
You both can. And you will both feel the same at the start of weeks 4 and 5 and you will both manage those too. This is a carefully worked out programme that works. Just beware week 6 which is when you stop thinking oh help that looks too hard but if you get complacent you find it's harder than it looks.
But week 3. Nah, it's tough of course but you will be fine.
I did W3R1 this morning. I lay there in bed thinking of all sorts of reasons why I shouldn't do it but I went and did it.
And you know what? It really wasn't that bad.
The usual 5 min walk then the usual W2 90s run and 90s walk. And then the 3 mins. Followed by 3 mins of walking !!!!
My tip that got me through it....have your favourite song ready to go at the start of the 3 minutes. A song you normally sing along to when it comes on. A 'shimmy in the kitchen when you're home alone' song.
Start it when the 3 minutes starts.
Most songs are around 3 minutes long so you will be that busy bopping away in your head you won't even notice the 3 mins.
And the feeling of achievement at the end is great.
You'll smash it.
Looking forward to seeing the same face when we both start W4 next week
Yes you will... slow and steady, and just let it happen.... Each run is making you stronger and fitter... and you will make the thirty minute runs...Yes, you will!
Haha! I'm still pulling that face and I am about 'week 12'!! But - I am still doing it and like you thought OMG every new week at the hurdles ahead. But - you absolutely can do it and you will be so pleased with yourself when you do and quite rightly so. It won't be easy, but it's doable and definitely worth it! Good luck.
I started WK 3 today and was feeling pretty much the same as you are but I surprised myself and completed it!! I did get some strange looks though as towards the end, when I wanted to collapse in a heap of trainers and running gear, I began to sing along rather loudly to my music!! Oh well, nothing ventured, nothing gained!!
Just did W3 R1 this morning and it honestly wasn't as bad as I expected. The 90 sec runs seem really easy after you've done 3 minutes! Good luck with it π
