Run 1 week 5

Here I go into week 5, a cool rainy evening, perfect for a run. I felt quite comfortable with the 3 x 5minute runs, looking forward to run 2, unfortunately it will be on Monday because my knee needs two days to recover. 😁

Well done you. Hope the knee is okay and doesn't cause any more problems

My knee is quite sore after each run and the next day, but after two days it's fine, I presume it's okay to carry on once feels back to normal.

The mantra seems to be aches are okay, pain definitely not. So if it's achy and then okay, then I guess you're good to go. But of course the programme ramps up, and if you find the 'soreness' does too, then mmm Houston you got a problem

My GP is a bit of a runner, I think I will try and see her in the week. Just to make sure.

Don't worry I'm going slowly. 😁

Well done and very wise to have the extra days off.

Most of my generalised aches and pains eased around about W5. If yours persist it might be your footwear.

I've heard about having your gait tested, is this something you would advise?

Definitely. I was dubious until I saw the two videos of me running in my normal shoes and the suggested support shoes. My ankle and knee joints were suddenly in vertical alignment and I was pushing off from my inner toes as opposed to my little toes. Mechanically it made absolute sense and I have had no running injuries since.

Take your existing shoes with you for comparison. Don't be brand led.
