And on to week 9

I've just completed Week 8 - running a little further and with a faster finish on the third run. I now have to decide whether to do the park run on Saturday as my first run of week 9. I know it is further than I have done and will take longer but wonder whether the spirit of the event will keep me going. Any thoughts?

Hi sheps , wow week 9 your almost there and that's fantastic ,remember our little group a few weeks ago on the dreaded w5r3 , and now we are almost finished . I did race for life 5k last weekend and the atmosphere definitely helped my run it. Go for it I've seen others on here do parkrun and say it's great . Go get week 9 and let us know if you do go to park run 🏃.

I do remember, leighbev - haven't we done brilliantly? Well done you on the 5K - you have given me the oomph to say I'll go for it. If I have to walk a bit, so be it. I wish I knew how far I have been running up to now but my fit bit is set for a walking pace and my running pace is shorter so it is unreliable. It says 4K so I'm guessing perhaps 3.5. Can I do another 1.5? Worth finding out, I guess.

If you fancy it...then go for it.... you can run at your own pace... there will be folks there walking and some speeding too.

Start at the start line with your warm up walk, then run for the 30 minutes..no need for speed, just steady and slow! You will do it!

Thanks, I was wondering about how to fit in the warm up.

It will stop you getting carried away with the excitement and moving too quickly:)

Just a, normal, I can do this run with lots of lovely folk around you :)

Do it as oldfloss suggests. Waited till I graduated before doing my first and now regret that a bit. I loved it last Saturday and am looking forward to doing it again despite only managing one rubbish run in between. They were all so friendly at my local one.

Well done you ... Just three more runs!

I'd definitely recommend Parkrun. Do your planned run including warm up and warm down then walk the rest. A lot of people walk/run so you won't be last.

There's a bit of hustle and bustle at the start but just hang back a bit and do your own thing. Don't feel under pressure to go too fast. Remember "slow and steady"!

Let us know how you get on.

Good luck and happy running!
