First true 5k run today😊

Having graduated from C25k a couple of weeks ago I did my first 'proper 5 k this morning. To date I've included the warm up and cool down walks in the distance but now I've downloaded the 'map my run' app. So I now know that it takes me 41 minutes and 12 seconds to run 5.05 km😊.I am actually starting to enjoy running!

Brilliant! Well run!

Have you found the delay feature where you can delay the start 5 mins?

That's brilliant! I'm looking to build on my distance too. I'm doing approximately 5k including the walks, so I'm going to give it a week or two and start the 10% increase. Would you recommend map my run? I've been trying to use Strava but it's been hit and miss with the gps - I have an old phone and we're in a very poor signal area!

Map my run seems to work for me - I got frustrated with my iPhone health app which gave me different distances when I knew I 'd run the same route - zI' m building up to a par run in a couple of weeks time.

RuthMargaret, the likelihood is that it is your phone and maybe the reception area rather than the app that is at fault.

Do you live in the middle of a forest?

No, but we are in a notorious area for bad reception. I am in the process of setting up a new phone. Hopefully that will help!

GPS works from satellites, not on your data signal, so unless something, like trees or tall buildings, is blocking the satellite signal, you should get an accurate fix.

Well done you!

For me I felt achieving 5k consolidated my C25k graduation so you really really are a runner now!

Happy running!

Well done, it feels great when you hit 5k that first time, doesn't it? I use that app too, works well, add the 5 minutes delay as jacs-w says.

Well that's another milestone (kilometrestone?) achieved.

Well done.
