Just completed my first week, feel amazed , the first run was the hardest and now I am just dreading moving forward to Week 2 am I alone thinking this way? :(

You go very slowly, and it's mostly walking. Nothing scary at all. Enjoy yourself πŸ™‚

Michael, Jo, Sarah or Laura will tell you exactly what to do. It's like having someone holding your hand, and very reassuring

Thank you I am positive and I am so pleased with myself , I cant believe I took the first steps I am 55 and overweight, so its not easy, I have found listening to Jo very encouraging , its just a shock to my body I think :)

You're never alone here... With over 30, 000 of us here we've all dreaded something, whether it was that very first run, fear of embarrassment, the next week, taking too much rest, not taking enough rest, having the right shoes - the list is endless.

But the great thing is actually the progression from week to week is well tested and thought out. You can't go wrong following your coach. Take it slowly and surely and you'll be fine. then after this week is up you'll be thinking of week 3 and you know what your head may say - 'OMG I've just seen week 3's schedule', but the advice still stands. Listen to your coach, come here for group hugs and keep trucking

I found most weeks followed a cycle of

Run 1 tough but achievable

Run 2 mentally tough - I can't do this

Run 3 Relief that was OK, FEAR - next week will be tougher.

Trust the program, make your routine the priority & keep,going.

Don't worry about times & distances just build up to running 30 mins, then you can start to run further or for longer.

Look at ParkRun.org.uk, or local running clubs, they're really inclusive & welcoming regardless of ability etc.

thank you I will look at park runs in my area my daughter joining me this week too, i love the feeling when I have done it and feel very motivated in going its just harder than I thought it would be :)

Well done, you are on the right track. If you don't complete a run then you simply repeat it until your body is capable of doing it..............why fear that.

Read the posts on here from today's graduates. I am sure that many felt the same, but they believed in both the brilliant programme and more importantly themselves.

It does not matter how long this takes or how slow you run. You are in control. The only way to fail this plan is to stop doing it. You are in control.

thank you yes I will carry on love the feeling when I have done it its just not as easy as I thought it would be, I love the encouragement from the app - much easier than trying it alone .

thank you I took advise from here and repeated 1 more run from week 1 , felt ready to move to week 2 and I have completed the first run today- felt amazed that I actually did it, was easier than run1 of week 1 lets just hope I can continue.

Haha definitely not, I think a lot of us dreaded each new week, at least to start with. The one thing I learned through doing this programme is that it really does set you up to succeed. Each time I though 'uh oh, no way can I do x minutes' I shocked myself by doing it! Some were really hard but I still got there and you will too. Keep it slow and steady and trust in the programme!

Trust the program - it works. Really. And if one week is just too hard, then stick on that week until it is no longer hard (if you try to progress to quickly you may become disheartened). Doesn't matter if the whole thing takes longer than 9 weeks - who cares?! You will get to the end. You go girl!

Well just completed week 2 and feel amazing, I have been eating healthy and drinking lots of water - what I dont understand is the scales do not budge - I know in myself that I look a little less bloated and my clothes fit better - but so disheartened as I expected a weight loss. On the bright side I did not find the runs in week 2 as bad as I thought and was definitely easier than week 1 - thank you all for your support and positive thoughts - hope you all have a lovely weekend :)

Having read similar posts, I think it's quite usual not to loose weight but to feel 'a better shape, clothes fit better etc'

The weight loss comes later, when running continuously for 30 minutes becomes a habit, but don't worry, there are other benefits to keep you going along the way😜. According to my teenage daughters ( always keen to dispense "tell'em how it is honesty) my bum looks likes it's wearing a bra!! Not what I expected at the start but I'll take itπŸ˜€

Keep running, keep smiling...and stop weighing yourself, just trust the way you feel and the way your clothes feel.🐒🌟🐒🌟
