After many years of relative inactivity I have just signed up for C25K and am on my first week.

Can anyone recommend a good running playlist to listen to please?

Welcome and enjoy.

In the same way as it’s hard for me to recommend a drink or an ice cream you’d like, it’s hard with music. You probably need to make your own.

When building mine I picked songs which were very uplifting for the 5 min warm up walk then tried to pick songs that I love and can sing along to (if I weren’t so out of breath from running!) to get me through, trying to put “anthems” in the times I knew I might struggle. Then some celebratory songs for the warm down walk.

Enjoy your next run.

Hi Steve

like Jay66UK says, you really have to do your own, whatever inspires you?. I am 62 so into a lot of 70s rock and blues, anything from Led Zep to Tom Petty and anywhere in between. I'm on Spotify and have 53 songs so far in the list which I just shuffle play, then If I hear something on the radio or out and about which gives me a tickle, in it goes when I get home. Its such an uplift when the next surprise comes on in shuffle mode, and you shout Tune! (drawing a few stares...) you forget about the pain of running (and I find it a pain...)

Great when you end each run tho.

I can't believe I start week 9 next, managing ok, and I used to pray for the end of one minute in the beginning!! keep it up, keep the music, and enjoy that feeling at the end of each session!

Hey Steve - Like Jay & Kim above. Spotify, Amazon Music, Apple all have fitness and/or running playlists. These are mainly pop or pop chart remixes, but they also have other style playlists for running too - Rock, EDM etc etc.

So as Jay66UK says - It really does depend on what flavour ice cream you like! ;)

Good luck and welcome to the forum

Another vote for the NHS C25K podcasts. The music is chosen for its tempo and affect on your mood at different parts of the run. Since it is a free podcast, the music is license-free and may not be to everyone's taste. But it certainly is varied in its style. And the huge benefit is that you get Saint Laura as your coach. Firm but fair. "You can do this."

Welcome to the forum.

The guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

I just listen to my favourite music, regardless of bpm or genre.

Enjoy your journey.
