I'm fitter than my missus too. If we train together, I let her set the pace.

I haven't gone out with my husband as he is extremely fit and competes in iron distance triathlons...so I think you were extremely brave to go out with yours. Next time, just leave him at home and go your own pace and I am sure you will actually enjoy it. You also might want to do a few more pelvic floor exercises...

Hi, great that you've taken the first step. I've just graduated and did it completely on my own. That way you can go as slowly as you like without others judging you (or you thinking they are judging you)and you will see improvement and begin to enjoy it and have time that is yours.

Good luck.πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Oh dear! Let us be your virtual running buddies. We can cheer you on from cyber space. And lots of us - me included - are slow as treacle so you'll be in good company. :)

Your journey, your pace.

Well done Sween on starting. Warm up walk together then meet up at the end, you need to do this at a pace that suits you. (which should be super slow by the way )😊

Good luck with W1 R2...

I made that mistake. My Hubbie is also iron man! He was annoyingly sweet and encouraging and (through no fault of his) made me feel totally useless. I nearly cried after run 1!! I have just done wk 5 run 2. I do it on my own. It's still incredibly hard, but I did it!!!

Shoes on the other foot here, my other half does Pilates, boot camp and runs half marathons... I on the other hand just got through C25K and did my first parkrun last week... we'll catch them up eventually πŸ˜‚

I have the luck to have a very fit husband he is a Mamil and cycles 100s of kilometres a week. For his misfortune he has broken his back and after surgery can't run, so perversely that works in my favour, as I don't have any pressure on my runs, as he just can't participate - I know he'd want to help and encourage me , but sometimes you need to do these things in your own way As Anne Droid said, let us be your buddies no one needs to know how fast how slow, how puffed out, how red, unless you tell us and we are all with you every step. From a very red puffed out tomato looking runner... keep going girl

Yay, go you, run number one ticked off the chart! My other half isn't a runner or a sportsman, but he does gardening and DIY which he claims make him as fit as everyone else 😏 There's no way I'd have run C25K with him because he would have given me advice and taken the mickey all the way round -even if our pace was the same - which probably wouldn't be the case. Apart from that, it's my "me time". Running turns into precious 'personal space' time that you may defend to the hilt as you move through the course.

As for the subsiding pelvic floor issues... when I add up the total number of kgs of offspring that have bombed their way through my reproductive system, I'm surprised I'm not wheeling my bladder alongside me in a cart :D

Well done for getting out there but you are much better doing C25k by yourself. Setting your own pace with no outside pressures and being with a very fit companion can be demotivating because the gulf seems so huge. Never mind, over the next few weeks that gap in abilities will shrink as you transform yourself into a sleek, mean running machine.

Good luck.

Well done on getting out! I finished the programme earlier this week and I still don't go out with anyone! Worried they will be too fast for me. Also I like the down time for myself so do whatever suits you best!

Good luck and keep going! X

Mixed comments on here as to whether to take a fitter person with you. I've only done two runs so far and I take my son with me. He's much fitter but is great at sticking with me and not laughing at my slow pace. At the same time, his presence encourages me to keep going. You need to get your hubby to run WITH you and FOR you, not doing his own run for himself with you tagging along. If he won't co-operate, politely decline and go it alone with your virtual friends on here who are going through the same (slow) pain.

As for the weeing, Tena Lady is your new best friend!
