Well I ran for 25 mins. Yey me. However, I ran at a slow jog of 4mph. 4.5mph for the last 5 minutes. Obviously I didn't near 5k. What sort of speeds are first time runners managing/aiming for?
Week 6 run 3 ✅: Well I ran for 25 mins. Yey me... - Couch to 5K
Week 6 run 3 ✅
As slow as possible to minimise risk of injury to legs, joints etc, whilst building the aerobic engine.
The slower the better
I don't know what speed I'm going at, (slow is my best bet)in fact I don't know how to know, if you know what I mean. What do you use to reckon your speed?
Today I ran 4K in 28 minutes, I'llhave to do the maths!
I normally wouldn't know my speed but I am a fair weather plodder and took to the treadmill today!
Thanks for the advice. I'll keep to the pace I can manage. I just felt a little disheartened when after completing 25 mins I hadn't reached 3k.
But the C25K programme is about getting to 30 minute runs. steadily and without injury... not about speed at all.... as one of our seasoned runners on here said, many times... a journey...not a race... enjoy it
