Week 7 Completed

Hello

I am slowly getting there and I mean slowly. Have just done R3W7. I am so pleased to have got this far but am no where near running 5K. I checked my speed for the first time this morning, having run at what I thought was quite a bit quicker speed than I have done in the past and found that I only covered 2.9KM in 25 minutes, and that included my sprint for the last minute as suggested by Jo! Oh well never mind I'm just going to keep going and feel pleased that I am actually running at all.

Apart from week 1, week 6 was the only week that I didn't repeat and went straight on to week 7. Having run for 25 minutes at the end of week 6 I felt like it was a step back to repeat it and this time felt ready to move on.

It does seem to be getting a little easier, though I have to say thank god for spotify. It really takes my mind off the running and I have enjoyed searching out old favourites and suitable running tunes. I always run first thing in the morning, ( otherwise I wouldn't be able to fit it in) . I set my alarm for 5, and whilst I am running plan the day ahead and what needs to be done. A great distraction.

I am looking forward to starting week 8, though may try and find a different route. At the moment I am running along country lanes and bridleways that I always believed were fairly level but have now found have many inclines and small hills. Maybe, that will increase my speed. We will see.

Bye for now

The speed will gradually come just 'do the time' at the moment. Once you have graduated you can start working on improving distance etc. Enjoy your next few runs - keep us updated on the graduation party.

It is all about steady and slow, not speed.... You are doing wonderfully... just follow the programme as you are doing and forget the speed and 5K!

The time for speed and distance come later... when your running legs have become stronger and your stamina is greater :)

Just enjoy this wonderful journey, including those pesky hills and inclines... :) I wrote a post when I was doing C25K , all about the road rising up as I ran towards it...:)

You can do this...and you are getting stronger and stronger with every single run!

I so like your post. Not many people say their times when they are not fast. I am definitely not fast and still only do 3.6 ish in 30 mins. I know in theory that means I should do 5 k in around 45 mins but I cant keep going for another 1k + unless walking! When people post they have done 5k in 39 mins and think its slow I get very depressed, so thank you. However slow I am I am still a lot faster than I was 12 weeks ago when I minute was so hard!

Thank you. We are all different and I've come to the conclusion we should be proud that we are doing it no matter what speed we achieve
