Hey I'm Caroline! I'm about to start week 3 tomorrow and terrified about the 3 minute run! How did everyone else manage it?!
3 minute run fear!!: Hey I'm Caroline! I'm about... - Couch to 5K
3 minute run fear!!
You'll be surprised At what you can do. Try not to overthink it, and believe in yourself. Listen to Laura. She knows you can do it!
Do a search for week 3 and you will find that others felt like you, but trusted the plan, believed in themselves and just did it.
There is nothing to fear. If you don't complete a run then you repeat it until your body is capable of completing, then you move on. That is how the plan works.
Good luck. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
Hi Caroline
I was feeling just the same about w3 and the 3 minute run. I tried and couldn't do it so went back to w2. Then someone suggested that I run as slow as I dare. It sounds strange but it worked for me. I imagined I had tied my shoe laces together - smaller steps. I actually slowed the paces - fewer per minute. And suddenly I could do it with no problem.
I am now running 8 minutes. You will get there.
Sheps
I have just completed week three and have to say I found it a struggle but I did not give up and completed it . You will do it
Think of it as 180 seconds. Or , I dunno, how long it takes to boil a kettle. 3 minutes is not so long, it is in your mind now of course . But you ask how does everyone else do it, well every one else does do it so its possible! Nothing to be afraid of.
I was petrified of EVERY stage where the times increased how to do them? Exactly like you did D1W1 - slow and steady, one foot in front of the other. Do remember also - there is no such thing as a 'failed' run around here - the ONLY fail is not to go out the door. There are only 'practice' runs and 'success' runs. I have had many practice runs before and since Graduation and look forward to even more - because they, like the success runs I also look forward to , get me further and further away from the Couch
You will be fine - take it slow and steady, remember?
I couldn't believe that I'd ever be able to run for 3 minutes but with Sarah's help I made it. It's not as bad as you think it's going to be. You can do this
I felt the same. Firstly don't think ahead too much. Relax and just keep moving. I am on week 4 and felt the same about 5 mins and still don't know how I have done that! Believe it you can.
Hi Caroline! 🙋🏻 I did my week 3, run 1 yesterday and was feeling the same. I have to say I didn't know the timings until Miss Millican told me. I hadn't looked as I didn't want to worry about it, ha! By the time she told me I was already out and doing it.
I ran the 90 secs and thought "you've done this, you can do it again". Then when the 3 min run started I just thought "I can do 90 secs so let's make sure I get that far", as I was thinking "phew, this is ok but how long is left??!!" Sarah said I had run 2 minutes. "Well!", I thought, "I'm not going to be beaten by a measly 60 seconds! I wonder if I should focus on my breathing? Should I think about my stride? Do my muscles hurt? This actually isn't so bad. Anyway, I have 60 secs to go". At which point Sarah said I should start walking, ha ha!! It was done! Now to do the second set and by now I knew I could so the fear and gremlins faded.
It's amazing what we can do when we want to. Good luck with it. I'm sure you'll be fab and before you know it we'll be nervous of week 4!! 😂👍🙌🏃🏻♀️
