Week 5 Run #3 Question

I'm really nervous about Week 5, and was relieved to find Run #1 quite enjoyable. I'm definitely learning that running is way more mental than physical!!

Any one wondering why Run #3 is 20mins straight, and not 10min and 10mins with a small break?

You're far from alone in finding it a huge jump, almost everyone who has done the programme thinks the same. It frightenend the life out of me but I'm going to say the same to you that the good people on here told me, the programme so far has prepared you for it, you can and will do it.

You are coming to the end of interval running, I call this run the gateway run as doing it proves you can do the whole thing. If I had to come up with one answer to your actual question, it would be that this run shows you just how much of running is in your mind, having a break does not do that.

I did run 3 on Monday, and worked myself up so much about doing it that I felt sick on the morning before the run. Just be sure to pace yourself, don't go to fast (I sound like Laura!) and it should be okay. I found it much less horrific than I had built it up to be.

Totally agree with Katkin, its all in the mind .I was more worried about W5 R2, but found it ok, so was quite looking forward to R3.It was tough, but on the mind, not on the body. All the other runs seem to prepare you to cope.Good luck and let us know how it goes

Agree with all above. The challenge is in the mind, not the legs, mostly.

And that applies to just about all the runs from week 5 run 3 right up to the end! (Well, and all the earlier ones as well probably.)

c25k is a mind-training programme! A very good one, that works. :)

I agree. It is as much of a mind-training programme as it is physical.

I've actually been using some of my coaching techniques to help me. In particular, visualising me having completed the run and the feelings of pride and achievement having done it. Great way to get you into a positive 'can do' mindset.

Thank you all for your words of encouragement! This morning I did Run #2 of Week 5, and it was a breeze! :D I'm actually now looking forward to the challenge of #3!

I DID IT! :D AND IT WAS AWESOME! :D THANK YOU ALL!
