I must admit Week 6 Run 1 felt very straightforward after having toiled through Week 5 in the heat of last week. Was just the right temperature at 7:15 am.
As you can see from the Strava graph, I decided to push the boat out a little on the final five minute segment, by lengthening my stride - figuring there's not far to go now.
The switchback in the middle of the 8 mins segment was a sharp hill followed by a decline on a footpath next to a wheat field. (I wasn't "naughty" enough to run through the wheat field!)
I'm amazed at how good mentally you feel after running - it seems to make you feel much calmer and more relaxed. I guess it's these endorphines or whatever. Strangely, I cycle to work (6 miles each way) but don't seem to get the same benefit. Cycling is such an efficient method of transport that you can get there with hardly any effort. I guess you need running to really stoke up the endorphines.
