W5R3: First 20 min run done!

I feel so happy. I was terrified by the idea of a 20 min run but I've done it! This programme is just incredible. I would never have believed 5 weeks ago that I could get this far and I really am starting to think that I've got 5k in me!!! Becoming a runner at the age of 50 seems crazy but I'm just loving it.

Well done. I'm a run behind you having just done run 2 this morning. I felt great managing the 8 min runs and am trying not to worry about the 20 min one !! Posts like yours help me complete each run as I keep imagining this forum supporting and cheering me on. Hope you have a successful week 6 - keep running 🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏼‍♀️

Thank you! I have been hooked on the forum although I don't often post as I find it a source of strength and inspiration! And really, if I can do 20 mins (and enjoy it!) then you can too. 😁

We never know what we are capable of til we try 🙂 Keep going with this, slow but sure and you will be a runner, and hopefully remain one forever more

I was older than you when I started off the couch as an unhealthy fatty but now I just can't stop running. It's changed my life in so many ways, none of which I could never have envisaged when I took those tentative first steps, hiding out in the woods for my first runs of the programme

The thing is though just go slowly 🙂💪🏃‍♀️✔️

Thank you Miss Wobble. I often think of your advice to other people to keep it slow and steady. Ive found your posts really helpful. I've also really enjoyed becoming part of the early morning running community around where I live. Please keep posting and I'll keep running and reading!

Brilliant. Well done you.

Take that feeling with you as W6 is a tricky little customer. Don't underestimate it.

I'm sure it'll get harder, but I'm so grateful to be finding it doable at the moment. I've never been very fit and this programme feels like a gateway to enjoying exercise! I'm just taking it a run at a time...! 😊
