Hi again, I've just finished week 1, I enjoyed it and am really happy with what I've managed after years of inactivity. But, my shins were aching with every step of the run today. Is that normal? It's not bad enough to stop me, in fact I can't wait to get week 2 going, but I'm just wondering if anyone else has had this? Or is it just this chubby lad pounding down on them after all this time?

Hi, it was normal for me, I hadn't run for ages, in my case the pain started to go after week 3, it still returns if you run too fast though.

Aches and pains are all part of this I'm afraid, take you rest days to recover so that you don't get injured. I think we all pound our feet when we start out! Good to hear you are looking forward to week 2.

Watch out for shin pain, it can escalate very quickly into full blown shin splints. I got them in week 2, it was absolutely agony, and I couldn't walk. Have you got roper running shoes?
I got some Karrimor ones from sports direct, I didn't want to spend hundreds if I don't know if I'm going to stick with it!
