Hi everyone! So I did my first couch to 5k today and it was tough but strangely felt amazing at the end! Decided to do it as I am desperate to loose weight and battle my depression. Would love to hear from anyone in similar situation and please tell me does it get easier??!! I can't imagine getting to the 5k at the moment!! π
1st run today!: Hi everyone! So I did my first... - Couch to 5K
1st run today!
Week one took me 3 weeks to manage , week 2 took me 2 months π« but then I seemed to fly , I went from running 27 seconds and dying to running 6 k non stop , it took me 6 months though not 9 weeks but that doesn't matter .
Unfortunately I had a bad fall and tore the ligaments badly in my ankle , I've not run for 6 months so have started the plan again . I've just completed week 3 . It does get easier ( eventually in my case ) just go at your own pace it doesn't matter at all if it takes a few weeks to move up a level
I too started this week. Completed wk1r2 tonight and whilst it was hard it was better than r1!
Well, just completed W3 today morning. I won't say it gets easier, but you'll get used to it. Don't think too far ahead about the 5k, just think about finishing each run without skipping anything. The temptation might be to skip, maybe W1R3 and go on to W2R1, but stick with the schedule and you'll do great.
Hi and well done and welcome
Firstly, forget about 5K..the programme is all about getting to the 30 minute runs, injury free and having begun to build up your running Stamina, ready for your journey to continue...oh and having had fun!
You may lose weight, you may not, some folk on here do, some don't... quite a few folk are on the NHS linked Weight Loss forum as well as this one, and find that works well But.. you will feel mentally and physically fitter.
The running is about so much more than the run... it is disciplined and structured, it gives us time to explore ourselves and freedom to lose the stresses and strains of our lives.. ( we may have a few aches and pains en route..but that is to be expected.).
We all have our own targets and hopes during this journey, but, we are all here together..with each other and for each other, wherever on the journey we are
So... keep posting and take it steady and slow... listen to your body and don't be tempted to push too hard
" No one will tell you it is going to be easy...but what they will tell you, is it will be worth it "
Hi Leanne I seem to be doing this for the same reasons as you, just finished week1 and feeling so proud of myself for sticking to it, even for just a week! I am finding i am quite unfit so planning to take it slow and steady - 5k seems so far away at the minute but we will get there!
Hello! Well done for finishing the week 1 π I am so unfit as well but just finishing the first run made me feel a sense of achievement it is a really good program! We will definitely get there. I am so determined to sort my life out and get well mentally and physically π I am waiting for my ex to collect my girls and then I'm going for run 2!
I'm in the same situation but I can tell you it does get easier ππ» Keep up the hard work. Today is W1 R3 for me and it's given me a new lease of life - remember always put yourself 1st as if your not feeling good then no one else will. We can do this together ππ»
Good for you! Be positive and you will succeed at running and weight loss. Put the work in mind π
Slow but sure, that'll do it. Bon voyage πββοΈπ
Congrats!! I'm also running for my mental health and I'm finding it incredibly empowering to know that three times a week I have set aside space just for me and my mind xx
