Must remember not to repeat what I did on Tuesday - in the morning I did 45 mins in the gym, followed by an hour of Pilates. Light lunch then 3 hours later I went for a run. Big mistake. I felt tired right from the start, legs leaden. However, I was doing w2r1 of the bridge to 10k so wanted to increase my distance. I ended up running (slowly) for 6.2k though I felt it almost kill't me.
Today I treated myself to a birthday run - not something I've ever said or done before! I guess I should change my forum name to Joy58.... no I won't as 57 was the awesome age that I started c25k!
Started off going downhill - always a mood booster! Then through the next village, quiet on a weekday morning. Cows were right up against the fence next to the pavement. Up a farm road until the first outbuildings, turn round, downhill again, to the river where there's a stretch of boardwalk, always a nice part of the run. Back through the village to the canal. Met a group of schoolchildren out for a country walk on the towpath, in crocodile, bookended by their teachers. Couple of parent swans with 4 fluffy cygnets - just 4 this year? Then came across a group of seniors (age 75+) just disembarked from a canal boat, off to look at local landmarks. Many, many more people than I usually encounter! And these days I just run past with head high, a quick 'good morning'. No slowing to a walk to pretend I'd been walking all along... That's progress I guess!
So today I did 6.4k, again not my fastest pace, but aiming just to gradually increase my distance, week on week.
Happy running to all who are out there, and a speedy recovery to those on the IC!
