Graduate with stars!!!

A post was put on the group page today for all beginners (slow and interval runners). I'm in group 2 due to lack of speed! There was a run starting 6pm 2/3 miles. Sounds good? I replied 'count me in'. Little did I know how the evening would go.

We met up at HQ (athletics grounds) and started out. I knew 3 of the 5 people there. we did a lovely run along the canal behind the Abbey ruins and through the outskirts of Neath. The trainer and one of the interval girls (Just did her first three miler) turned and headed back and suggested as the rest of us were doing so well we should go to the next bridge and then circle back to HQ.

We did this (most of the runners have been running 7-9 miles on a regular basis). I kept going. Albeit a bit sore! On the way back I was told half mile to go and kept going. I got to make more friends and hold conversations through the run for the first time ever.

On arriving at the gates to HQ I was told by the girls with Garmins that we had just run 4.7 miles! In 1:10 mins.

4.7 miles!!!!! I haven't done anything longer than a parkrun! I didn't think I could go that far!!!! I have been encouraged to join in the longer distance runs on a Wednesday as there are a couple of girls that do 4/5 miles out of the 7/9 miles everyone else does. I was told I had a good pace and that I would fit right in with them. I can't believe it!

I can't go this week but will go next week. I was told I'll find increasing distance ok as I just took a huge jump! Sorry the post is so long!

Happy running all

I know! I've lost a stone too! I wasn't sure I could do it. Pace was slower than normal but was talking the whole way! Never been able to do that before! Got to know some of the other runners instead of just being out of breath!
