Most of us are so focused on just surviving it we haven't the faintest idea :)

Stamina, not distance, is the main objective and concern in the early days, but at a guess I would say I probably covered less than two tenths of a mile that first gasping lead-legged day :)

I like to know if I would have to catch the bus back

If you turn around at the halfway time that will get you back if not to where you start running at least pretty close :)

Sorry.I was just joking about the bus.

Not far ... if you are taking it at the correct pace :)

As our wonderful Irish-John says... distance is not an issue at this stage...just remember to turn around at the halfway point... some of us forgot that :) ( Me) :)

Yeah hadn't thought about the halfway point. Ended up walking/jogging another 10 mins.

Without Michael Johnson telling me "great job!" 😀

Apart from the title of the plan, there is never any mention of distances in the entire programme. Distance is of no consequence. It is a duration plan.

Congratulations on getting started.

You're probably looking at about 4km / 2.5miles.

I would find that unlikely in the extreme. If you are covering 2.5 miles in 20 mins of run walk, you would be doing 7.5 mph. Equivalent to a 50 minute 10k pace.

I read the question as 'distance covered' in the w1d1 session which I assumed was to work out a route prior to starting. The podcast is approx 31 mins, which includes 8 mins running and approx 23 mins walking.

8 mins @ 6mph = 0.8 miles

23 mins @ 4mph = 1.53 miles

= ‘about’ 2.5 miles.

Hope this makes sense - just an opinion after all…

Ah! Just saw your breakdown of the numbers Little-Joe. Not used to taking walking breaks into account anymore. I understand it now, and it is indeed a very judicious comment. :)

We are running the same route that we walk our dog and its approx 2.14 miles 😃

My circular route is 2.3 miles, and I got to the end of the podcast ~2 mins before I got home in weeks 1-3. I'm planning a slightly longer route for week 5.

Has anyone been there and back again to see how far it is?

Loads of times......every time we went for a Sunday afternoon drive with Mum & Dad when we were kids.

I did W1D1 with a friend from work last week and we covered 2.5k in total... but as we all agree, distance is not important at the moment.

Mine was 2.8km

I measured mine on my Fitbit and I was about 2.2miles on my first day (didn't turn around at half way so had to walk further back). Only done w1r2 today and didn't go as far but still got to 2miles

If you go to Google Maps, you may be able to find out.

First full run today. Definitely got me going. Could've done more but sticking to the plan. Knackered knees. Don't want injuries.
