Measuring the distance

Does anyone have any suggestions for an accurate distance measuring tool for my run. My current step counter gives my distances as way too long compared to the measuring tool on Google, sometimes up to 3km difference and I always do the same route!! I just want it to work in the background don't need fancy stuff - oh, and it must be very easy to use.

Strava is great and it's free😊

Thanks - I've downloaded the app ready for tomorrow's run. Discovered my niece an nephews also use the app so I can put them to shame - haha!!

Or a gps watch if you don’t want to take a phone.

I used viewranger on my phone before buying a garmin. Have you checked your stride length is entered correctly on your step counter?

Thanks but my step counter is part of my scales app and it doesn't ask for information just gets on with it. Usually pretty good if you're walking but can't cope with running for long periods of time - like 30 minutes!

I use Onthegomap.com for planning routes, but it would be equally good for checking how far you’ve run if you’re not interested in the times.

Thanks for the suggestion

I’ve got map my run and strava I usually forget to turn them on then when I do remember I forget to stop it when it comes to my walk both said more or less the same thing today so either is good oh and I use only free apps 😁

Thanks for your reply. I tried Strava today but it paused when I opened the run podcast and I didn't realise until I'd finished the run! Not a good start.

Try map my run- unless it was dodgy gps I use the app not pod cast and they work together - some days technology does my head in!!
