Hi all, I'm 5 stone overweight and wanna lose weight and also be able to run parkrun on a Saturday. Does anyone know where the nearest Couch to 5k programme is to Norton Le Moors (Stoke on Trent)???

It's not a gathering as such, you download the podcasts and you run with them on your own, or if you happen to have anyone in the area who does the same you could run together.

Hiya Jenny,

I have about as much weight to lose. I've started the program with the app, and want to work up to the park run and also I've signed up to the Colour Run in Brighton. I live in Surrey.

You don't need a group, you just need to download the NHS C25K app or podcasts and the support of this forum and you will be on your way in no time.

I'm just starting but as Irish-John says here, "we may run on our own, but we NEVER run alone". Don't worry about having anyone physically next to you, apart from anything, in the early weeks your runs change a lot between running ( more likely jogging) and walking, so unless the person beside you is at exactly the same point you wouldn't be able to do the runs in step. I'm about to start week two and hopefully will be running for 90 secs, this week, you will run 60 second segments, so, even if I wasn't in Canada, we couldn't do it together.

Keep running, keep posting and keep smiling😀😀😀😀🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏼‍♀️👍🏼

Good luck.

If you prefer to run in a group, there is a website called run together and you can put your postcode in and find your nearest beginners group. I'm starting mine tonight! Then I can do the podcasts during the week before returning to the group :)

I did the pod cast a few years ago but where I live there are two weekly C25K groups and it's been so successful it has led to an improvers group and a 5to10k group.

Look at Run Together website as mentioned in previous post.
