Well done Wk1 Day2 and found it hard! Does it get easier? At 64 need to do this for health reasons. Joined a running club to keep motivated- hubby joined too and at 71 he's better than me! Need some motivation!

Motivation
Welcome Lizzie14. You will get lots of motivation from reading the histories on this site as well as the current battles and ongoing support from the programme graduates, who still kindly stick around and help us newbies. In my limited experience I've learned (or am in the process of learning) not to compare myself with anyone else. The only thing that matters is where I was and what I have currently achieved. I've found that some runs will be euphoric and others quite simply dull or plain hard work. Perhaps it will help to write down what you hope to achieve (e.g the ability to run for two minutes or bend down to do up shoe laces: whatever is progress for you). Definitely don't get caught up in any 'competition' with what others are able to achieve. This is about you. The advice you will constantly receive however is "slow and steady". Best of luck!
Thank you / I really want to do this and hope I can keep committed as health issues may be reduced. I am lucky to have a hubby who fully supports me and is willing to do this with me. My aim is 5k and I don't care how slow- just want to do it!
That's my aim too. The main aim of the C25k though I've found, is get us to be able to run (sometimes loosely defined!) for 30 minutes. The programme is to help build up stamina, develop good habits and safe practices. Distance (and possibly speed) comes later. Having said that, lots sign up for a 5k park run and aim to get through with a combination of running and walking. Exciting prospect isn't it
Well done for getting started. I remember how I felt at the beginning, I couldn't believe I would ever finish the nine weeks but with the support of this forum and Laura on the podcast I did it. I'm no springett chicken myself, I reach the big six 0 next month. Remember this is all about you, keep it slow, slow, slow and trust in the program. You CAN and you WILL do it. Go for it!
Well done both of you for starting something new. When you say your husband "is better" than you what do you mean? Faster? If that's the case, fear not. The slow approach is always better and builds stamina 🙂 Fast at this stage results in burn out and likely injury.
Motivation? Read some posts here and you'll be itching to get out again 🤗
Read my early posts. Went from looking like I was an extra in 'Heart Attack USA' (and that was one day one, week one after the first minutes run - I kid you not) to knocking out a 10 K just a few weeks ago. and all since June 1st last year.
This programme works...and a wealth of great advice on how to do it on this Forum
