I started couch 2 5 k 2 years ago ..... I was so happy when I done the ultimate run ...... week 9 day 3.... unfortunately I carried on for a few months. Got in a new relationship ... become unwell with flu and haven’t ran since ...... I have been planning to get back out but as of yet haven’t plucked courage to do so. I’ve got new running clothes and trainers ..... I really need to move my butt tho ... as sadly I have put all my weight back on tht I had ran off before.

Just get started! You will immediately feel better, more positive and healthier. It's a virtuous circle. The weeks will fly by and you will soon be feeling fab.

What exactly are you waiting for? No one can do it for you. You've got all the new gear (my very favourite motivator:)), you've done it before so you know you can manage the programme - stop faffing about, don't overthink it, and just get out there!

Good luck!

I've just re-graduated, two years after the first time. Get back out there, you know you can do it!

Have the reasons why you did it in the first place changed?

Have you discovered a different way of reducing your risk of all those life limiting conditions associated with inactivity, such as diabetes, heart disease and circulation problems? Or are you going to wait until they strike before you start?

Maybe you don't want the boost to your psychological well-being that most runners experience. Maybe you are actually happy as you are, but in that case why did you post here?

Put your shiny new gear on, make sure you have the app or podcasts ready to go and head out of the door and get your fix of endorphins and become fit again.

Go on, go on, you know you want to.

I started to run again on Sunday after a gap of about 1 1/2 years! It wasn't pretty BUT I ran a lot further than I thought I would. I then went again yesterday (I should have gone Tuesday but I could still barely move from Sunday's exertions!) and I managed the same distance (with my phone app congratulating me that I had just run my fastest time in 2017!!). I think you will be pleasantly surprised at how your body has remembered how to run despite the long gap. Remember most of running is psychological- you've done it before and you can do it again.
